CI Assante Private Client Partners with CAGP for 5th Year in a Row on Strategic Philanthropy

Apr 06, 2021

For the 5th year in a row, CI Assante Private Client is the Premier Sponsor of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners’ (CAGP) National Conference on Strategic Philanthropy.

This is the CAGP’s 27th annual national conference. The 2021 theme – The Challenge of Change – will focus on reimagining the future of philanthropy and perceptions in the industry. In keeping with the times, and this theme, the event will be held virtually from April 14-16 with 33 live and pre-recorded sessions to choose from.

“We believe in a holistic approach to wealth management, and this includes helping our clients realize their philanthropic potential,” says Damon Sutherland, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Wealth Services at CI Assante Private Client. “We are proud to support our charity and allied partners at CAGP each year, so we can all benefit from the growth of the charitable giving landscape in Canada.”

Education through collaboration

Even with the virtual setting, the association will look to gather members from across the country to learn, network, exchange experiences, and keep up to date on the trends, issues and best practices in strategic charitable gift planning.

One of these sessions will feature a panel of CI Assante Wealth Management advisors and be moderated by none other than Serena Hak, Head of Philanthropic Advisory Services at CI Assante Wealth Management. Titled The Female Advisor Perspective – How a Shift of Power & Wealth is Impacting the Financial & Philanthropic Planning Conversations, the panelists will discuss how the transfer of wealth and the role women play in financial matters have changed perceptions around philanthropic planning and what advisors can do to accommodate, but also encourage, this shift.

A common mission

The CAGP was established almost 20 years ago and is the only Canadian organization that pairs charitable gift planners with professional advisors to network, collaborate and educate on charitable gift planning strategies. The association’s mission to bring this expertise to advisors, and ultimately Canadian investors, fits well with CI Assante Private Client’s own approach to wealth planning. As a complete wealth management experience, it caters to the specific needs of high-net-worth Canadians by coupling personalized advice with:

  • Investment management
  • Estate planning
  • Tax planning
  • Insurance planning.

In recent years, the firm has placed additional focus on charitable planning with a Philanthropic Advisory Team that aids clients in realizing their philanthropic potential. It’s partnership with the CAGP is yet another piece in its commitment to be part of the change and expansion of charitable giving in Canada.
